24/7 emergency call-outs in Portsmouth
Emergency tree surgeon in Portsmouth
Tree down across the garden, a split limb hanging over the road or a tree leaning after a storm? Call us on 07519 744 790. We offer 24/7 emergency call-outs across Portsmouth, and when you ring we'll ask where you are, what has come down and whether anything is damaged or blocked.
While you wait: keep everyone back
Keep people, children and pets well away from the tree and anything under it. Don't try to cut or drag branches yourself, as limbs that are bent or trapped can spring back without warning. If the tree is touching overhead power lines, stay well clear and call 105, the free number for your local electricity network. If anyone is hurt or in immediate danger, call 999 first.
Terraced streets and tight access
From the Victorian terraces of Southsea to the streets across Portsea Island and up towards Cosham, many Portsmouth homes have compact gardens, and some have no rear access at all. When you call, tell us how we would reach the tree: through the house, down a side passage or from a back lane. Let us know about parking too, because on busy streets it can decide how quickly the van and kit can get to you.
Send us photos
If you can do it safely, send a few photos over WhatsApp showing the tree, what it has landed on and how we would get to it. It helps us understand the job before we arrive. If anything has been damaged, photos taken before it is moved are also useful for your own records and your home insurer.
Protected trees in an emergency
Portsmouth City Council's permission is normally needed before work on a tree with a Tree Preservation Order or in a conservation area, and the city has several, including Owen's Southsea, The Terraces, East Southsea and the Seafront. Government guidance allows urgent work where a tree presents an immediate risk of serious harm, but only the work needed to remove that risk, and the council must be told in writing as soon as practicable. Photos of the damage before work starts help show why it was needed.
Once it's safe
The first job is always making the area safe. After that, we can come back and deal with the rest properly: taking down what's left of a damaged tree, grinding out the stump, clearing the waste and repairing fencing that has been flattened. We'll give you a free estimate for that follow-up work.

- A tree or big branch has come down on a house, car, shed or fence
- A broken limb is hanging over a pavement, road or driveway
